today i presented at the new jersey art educators conference with another art teacher in my district. this year they put us in the giant ballroom and we filled it! whew! it was chaos when we went to pass out lesson plans. i had to step away because of all of the grabbing and fighting!
great to meet lots of nice art teachers and i enjoy sharing with them!
you never know who you'll meet at target

ok, what's this weird combo of pictures..?
well my sister and i were at target today and we spotted a famous author. ok, well she noticed her because i didn't know what she looked like! we first saw her van with her store name on it in the parking lot.
a few years ago when i painted this pop art dog he was sold off at an auction to beneifit frenchtown, nj. the author of the book eat, pray , love actually bought it. she runs a store in the town called two buttons.
as we were shopping, my sister and i quietly looked for her in the store. when we did find her i approached her to tell her she had purchased some of my art work..the dog!
little did i know that she had a big article in the the ny times today about her next book...ha! she said the dog is like their little store mascot..pretty cool. :)

found this picture in my email this morning and it really made my day. a customer in san francisco sent it to show me that she had designed her bay to breakers race costume around the pirate cupcake to shirt! love how she made the paper bag looking skirt...lol!
this race is pretty wacky and is a cross between mardi gras and a marathon. when i went to san fran. two years ago to see the maker faire/bizarre bazaar show, my friend who was a runner at the time, insisted on running in this race. i think it's about 7 miles through the streets and people get all decked out and throw tortillas in the air? i watched it live on tv from the hotel room while she ran, then she came back and an hour later we caught our flight back to the east coast. it was close timing!
but it also made me think, yes, people in san francisco do like dog bone art! i've been pretty down since finding out that i got rejected to the big renegade craft fair out there in july.
